CAMAC Chairman Kase Lawal Awarded Honorary Degree from TSU
Houston – May 16, 2009 – Kase Lawal, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of CAMAC International Corporation, was awarded an honorary degree.
Doctor of Humane Letters honoris causa by Texas Southern University President Dr. John M. Rudley for his leadership, advocacy and contributions to society. Dr. Lawal graduated from Texas Southern University in 1976 with a bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry.
“As an alumnus of Texas Southern University, I am especially proud and honored to be awarded an honorary doctorate from my alma mater,” Dr. Kase Lawal said. “Texas Southern University will always have a special place in my heart as the university that provided me with the educational foundation and the competitive edge to achieve success in my life and my career.”
In addition, Dr. Kase Lawal also presented the keynote address at Texas Southern University’s Spring Commencement 2009. He spoke to the graduating class of nearly 900 on several themes, encouraging the graduates to honor their dreams, to understand that no matter where their paths lead them that they have options in life and to give back to Texas Southern University with their time and talents as active members of the National Alumni Association.
“I encourage all new TSU graduates to keep pressing forward with purpose, challenging yourselves and others to live up to their God given potential to build lives and communities,” Dr. Lawal said. “You have been prepared by TSU,” Dr. Lawal commented. “I expect for you to fulfill your own destiny and to write your own book on the life that you want to lead and the contribution that you want to make to society. Texas Southern University needs you NOW!”
